The University Research Council (URC) of the Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU) was institutionalized on March 15, 2000 under the leadership of Fr. Joel Tabora, S.J. (Tabora, 2000b, 2000a). The URC was originally composed of 7 regular members and 1 associate member. The regular members are appointed by the University President for an indefinite term while the associate member is appointed on a yearly basis (Tabora, 2001, 2003a, 2003b, 2004). during Fr, Tabora’s leadership, the URC underwent several reconstitution in the membership (Tabora, 2007d, 2007b, 2007a, 2008b). Under the leadership of Fr. Primitivo Viray, Jr. the URC was reconstituted in 2013 which composed of 8 regular members representing different academic disciplines (Viray, 2013a).

Mission

The URC aims to help create a culture of research where inter- and multidisciplinary collaborations and external linkages are promoted and where research output is recognized, published, and utilized as a response to the development needs of the academe and human communities.

Vision

The URC envisions itself as the leading Bicol-based knowledge hub for research and innovations, generating new ideas, frameworks, and technologies for the region, nation, and world. Mission The URC aims to cultivate a robust culture of research where inter- and multidisciplinary collaborations and external linkages are promoted and where research output is recognized, published, and utilized as a response to the development needs of the academic and human communities.

Goals

  • Develop the research capability of the university faculty and staff through sponsoring professional development seminars/workshops;
  • Provide support to departments/office units for their research requirements;
  • Provide attractive monetary incentives and support for research work;
  • Administer full professorial research chairs and projects;
  • Support university faculty and personnel in their intra- and inter- disciplinary collaboration and external research linkages;
  • Create a pool of researchers and mentors; and
  • Increase the number of personnel authoring books, publishing in peer- reviewed/indexed journals, and presenting quality research in various media.
