The study conducted an inventory of trees in the Municipalities of Presentacion, Tinambac, Buhi, Del Gallego, Minalabac, and Naga City in sampling sites in farming lands, along roadsides, and areas outside of protected areas and natural parks. It also explored the trees’ potential as mother trees of native tree species in Camarines Sur by adapting DENR Administrative Order 2010-11 (2010) as an assessment tool and created maps for the area. The study looked into both timber and non-timber species as the latter are neither poorly studied nor widely propagated, but equally play an important role in sustaining biodiversity and restoring ecosystems. Leaf reflectance was measured and spectral signatures for the tree species were computed. The study assessed a total of 967 trees. Excluding the 117 unidentified individuals, the trees belong to 139 species. 93% (904 individuals) of which are potential mother trees that belong to 45 Families and 96 Genera. Top three Families with the most number of individuals are Moraceae, Fabaceae, and Apocynaceae, while the top three Genera are Ficus, Artocarpus, and Pterocarpus. 74.8% of the possible mother tree species are Native. In terms of conservation status (DENR DAO 2017-11, 2017), 83.7% are not listed while nine species are Vulnerable, one Endangered, three are Other Threatened Species, and one Critically Endangered. A local spectral library for the tree species was built containing a total of 60 species and forms the initial dataset for future tree data processing and modeling.
