ABOUT CCD
Established in 1981 in response to the 32nd General Congregation of the Society of Jesus, the Social Integration Office (SIO) began as a student extension program under the Ateneo de Naga Research Center, initially focusing on exposures and immersions. In the early 1990s, it shifted its direction toward poverty alleviation and community development. In 1994, it was renamed the Center for Community Development (CCD) to reflect its broader mission.
By 1997, the Community Outreach Program was institutionalized, and in recent years, the National Service Training Program was integrated into the student curriculum. Today, CCD serves as the social involvement arm of Ateneo de Naga University, extending the university’s commitment to nation-building by partnering with communities beyond its campus boundaries.
MISSION
CCD is mandated to develop and implement programs, projects and activities geared toward producing graduates with social orientation and personal commitment to help resolve the social problems of the society.
VISION
Empowered and Responsive Communities

CCD Revives Tulong Dunong, serving 67 pupils through tutorials and feeding program

From May 25 to 29, 2026, after years of hiatus, the Tulong Dunong Summer Tutorial and Feeding Program of CCD officially returned, bringing together 61 volunteers from CCD Voltz, the Samahang Tagapagtaguyod ng Edukasyong Pilipino (STEP), and various Ateneo de Naga University student organizations to help the 67 pupils of Punta Elementary School in their educational journey. The week-long program formally opened with a simple ceremony at Punta Elementary School, highlighted by the distribution of Tulong Dunong (TD) Kits containing essential school supplies.
The kits were made possible through the support of Daet Masonic Lodge No. 247 and the University Social Involvement Fund.Complementing the tutorial sessions was a daily feeding program that provided nutritious meals and snacks during both morning and afternoon activities. Supported by student organizations and the University Social Involvement Fund, the initiative aimed to help pupils remain healthy, focused, and engaged throughout the program.
Student teachers from STEP facilitated tutorial sessions covering Mathematics, Science, English, Filipino, and Language subjects. Throughout the week, they worked closely with the pupils to address learning gaps, strengthen foundational skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic, and build confidence through personalized instruction and mentorship.

The program also integrated learning experiences beyond the classroom through an Alternative Class Program (ACP) on the third day. Members of the University Choir introduced pupils to music through interactive singing activities, while the Lunduyan ng mga Alagad ng Kultura at Sining sa Ateneo (LAKSA) facilitated art sessions that encouraged creativity and self-expression. CCD Voltz also conducted a bead-making workshop that promoted patience and hands-on learning. The afternoon featured a Laro ng Lahi-themed Intramurals, where traditional Filipino games fostered teamwork, sportsmanship, and appreciation for Filipino culture among the participants.

Various student organizations supported the feeding program throughout the week. The Ateneo College Red Cross Youth (ACRCY), with the assistance of parents, prepared spaghetti snacks on the opening day, while the Ateneo Nursing Student Association (ANSA) served nutritious arroz caldo and conducted a short hygiene education session. The Ateneo Consortium of Technological Information and Computing Sciences (TACTICS) also sponsored a pancit bihon meal for the pupils.
The program concluded with a post-test assessment to measure the pupils’ learning gains, followed by a closing ceremony celebrating their achievements and participation. Certificates were awarded to the pupils, while performances by both teachers and pupils showcased the talents and confidence developed throughout the week.

Certificates of appreciation were likewise presented to Punta Elementary School and STEP in recognition of their partnership and support. The successful relaunch of Tulong Dunong underscored the power of collaboration among volunteers, educators, student organizations, sponsors, and community partners in creating meaningful learning opportunities for young learners. #TulongDunong2026 #Year1
