5 September 2026 — The Bukas Palad Music Ministry brought their Maging Bukas Palad Charity Concert series at the Ateneo de Naga University Covered Courts.

For nearly four decades, Bukas Palad Music Ministry dedicated itself to composing, recording, and performing original Filipino liturgical and inspirational music, earning numerous accolades: such as the Catholic Mass Media Awards, Awit Awards, and Aliw Awards. Celebrating their 40th anniversary, the ministry continues its mission of inspiring prayer, faith, and hope through music, liturgical formation, and community outreach.

The concert proved to be an emotionally charged evening for all in attendance, including notable guest Mayor Leni Robredo. The audience sang along passionately to Bukas Palad music such as I Will Sing Forever and Bless Our Darkness. With the crowd’s cheers and energy, the Bukas Palad singers also delivered a powerful encore, providing a rare OPM pop-rock medley and a community singing of Aba Ginoong Maria.

Chorale Workshop

After the concert, the event offered a unique learning opportunity for local musicians and church chorales. On 6 September 2026, a Bukas Palad Workshop workshop was held at ADNU’s Arrupe Convention Hall. Choir members and singers from Camarines Sur attended a half-day lecture-workshop with Bukas Palad co-founder Fr. Manuel “Manoling” V. Francisco, SJ who graciously shared insights on the theology, crafting, and right approaches to liturgical music and community singing. The special event concluded with a Eucharistic Celebration at the Christ the King Church which was attended by the workshop attendees, applying what they had learned earlier in the program.

The Maging Bukas Palad event was a resounding success—not only by filling the night with heartfelt music and deep spiritual connection, but also leaving a lasting impact on the choir groups by empowering local church musicians and raising vital scholarship funds for future Ateneans.

Fundraising for the Next Generation

Beyond music, the heart of the event opens the doors for the next generation. Today, scholars make up twenty percent of the entire ADNU student population. As the second fundraising effort following the Pat Dy Photography workshop organized last September 2026 to raise enough funds for the school’s food vouchers—the proceeds directly expand the University’s scholarship pool. The event reinforces ADNU’s deep-rooted commitment to transform lives across Bicol, to form “men and women for others.” Through the collective generosity of the community, the University continues to prove that when we open our hearts, lives are transformed for the better.
