The Ateneo Personnel Club (APC), in coordination with the Incident Management Team (IMT), conducted the Basic First Aid Training (BFAT) for University Marshals on  18 August 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the JOBL Multipurpose Room, First Floor of the University Library. The training was facilitated by resource speakers from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) of Naga City.

The activity commenced with the self-introduction of the participants, allowing everyone to become acquainted with fellow University Marshals. This was followed by the Opening Prayer led by Melissa Dela Cruz, and the Opening Remarks delivered by Elmer Sto. Domingo, Jr., the IMT Commander, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the training in strengthening their preparedness and ability to respond to emergencies.

The resource speakers conducted an extensive discussion on the fundamentals of first aid and the important information that University Marshals need to know when responding to emergencies. The morning session covered the importance and basic principles of first aid, proper assessment of an emergency situation, safety precautions, appropriate response procedures, and the importance of providing immediate and proper assistance while waiting for professional medical responders. The participants were encouraged to listen attentively, ask questions, and actively participate throughout the discussion.

The afternoon session began with a short quiz/assessment conducted by the speaker to determine the participants’ understanding of the topics discussed during the morning session. The participants demonstrated a very good level of understanding, as reflected in the results of the assessment.

The speaker then proceeded with a discussion and demonstration on different types of bandaging techniques. Using bandage cloth, the speaker demonstrated the proper way of applying the different bandages. The participants were then paired with their partners and were given the opportunity to practice the techniques themselves under the guidance of the speaker.

For the final practical activity, the participants were divided into four groups and participated in a bandaging relay game. Each group was tasked to demonstrate the proper bandaging technique as quickly and correctly as possible. The activity encouraged teamwork, cooperation, and active participation while allowing the participants to apply the skills they had learned. Group 2 was declared the winner after completing the activity first. As a fun consequence, the other groups performed the Chicken Dance, creating an enjoyable and memorable conclusion to the practical activity.

Following the practical activity, selected participants shared their feedback and reflections about the training. The participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn practical first aid skills and highlighted the usefulness of the training in performing their responsibilities as University Marshals.

The activity also included the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation to the resource speakers, presented by Lenny Riego-Golles, APC President, and Elmer Sto. Domingo, Jr., the IMT Commander, as a gesture of gratitude for their time, expertise, and valuable contribution to the training.

The APC President delivered the Closing Remarks, expressing appreciation to the resource speakers, IMT, APC Officers, and all the University Marshals for their participation and support in making the training successful. Sir Nono also provided additional important information and reminders to the participants.

The activity concluded with a Closing Prayer led by Mariel Jane Imperial, giving everyone an opportunity to express gratitude for the successful and meaningful training.

Overall, the Basic First Aid Training was successfully conducted and provided the University Marshals with valuable knowledge and practical skills that can be applied when responding to emergencies. The active participation of the marshals, combined with the practical demonstrations, assessment, and team activities, made the training both informative, engaging, and meaningful.

The activity was emceed by Camille Faye Badong-Balilla, who facilitated the program and ensured the smooth flow of the different activities throughout the training.
