On July 23, 2026, Ateneo de Naga University and the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to launch the Geographic Information System (GIS) – Based Customer Attribution and Digital Mapping of MNWD Service Connections project.

The six-month initiative will be spearheaded by the university’s Institute for Environmental Conservation and Research (INECAR) through its Regional Geographic Information Systems (REGIS) Hub. This digital mapping project aims to improve water resource management and service delivery by accurately attributing and digitizing MNWD’s vast network of consumer connections across the Metro Naga Area.

The MOA signing took place at the MNWD Board Room. Key officials present at the event included INECAR Director Joanaviva C. Plopenio, MNWD Board of Directors Headed by Mr. Gilbert Albero, and MNWD General Manager Florencio T. Mongoso, Jr.
