17 July 2026 — Ateneo de Naga University switches to renewable energy through a special partnership with Jin Navitas Electric Corporation (JNEC), serving as retail electricity supplier. As shared by University President Fr Aristotle Dy, SJ: the movement is part of the University’s response to Church encyclical Laudato Si’ on the care for our common home, as well as alignment to the three United Nations’ strategic development goals, particularly Affordable and Clean Energy (7), Climate Action (13), and Partnerships for the Goals (17). He also added that the partnership is ADNU’s contribution to nation building through environmental care.
Briefly providing context, the partnership with JNEC was part of AdNU’s search for alternative, clean energy source through collaboration with SolX Technologies, which also provided recommendations and guidance towards the movement.
This partnership is also the first Retail Aggregation Program in the region, through the Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CASURECO II).
JNEC’s Group Executive Officer Jacinto Ng, Jr, in his response speech, expressed his gratitude and appreciation over the new partnership. He shared that the movement is actually a part of a bigger project which contributes to the concept of the common home.
ADNU’s electricity requirements will be sourced from renewable energy projects including those of JNEC’s affiliated solar power company, Jin Navitas Solaris Inc. Solaris is also the first solar energy developer that has pioneered the installation of rooftop energy in socialized housings.
Following GEO Ng’s response speech was JNEC President & CEO Jose Alfonso Miras who also added shared details about their solar project Ning*Ning which hopes to provide more homes to families while sustaining and supplying clean and renewable energy, thus creating meaningful communities.
Capping the messages of the industry representatives was Dir. Maria Luisa Rosin, Casureco II President (Naga South District). She saw the event as a celebration on our commitment to renewable energy and environmental stewardship. She hoped that the movement will also inspire other institutions to take initiatives in reliable and sustainable energy solutions for a greener and more resilient future.
The partnership was officially marked with a MoA signing, as well as a switch-on ceremony participated by the official representatives of ADNU and JNEC. The event was attended by the ADNU community heads, as well as representatives from CASURECO and media groups, and was held at the Madrigal Amphitheater, Madrigal Building, Ateneo de Naga University.
