The PhD in Language and Literacy Development students of LLD 307 (Seminar on Bilingual Education) and LLD 308 (Trends in Reading and Writing) of the Ateneo de Naga University Graduate School successfully conducted the Webinar on Trends in Literacy and Multilingual Classroom Pedagogy on July 4, 2026, via Google Meet, with the theme “Navigating Diverse Linguistic Landscapes: Innovative Approaches to Literacy Instruction in Multilingual Classrooms.”

The webinar featured two distinguished resource speakers from Bicol University. Dr. Ma. Celina Eladia G. Meneses, Head of the English Language Department, discussed “Negotiating Multilingualism and Decolonizing English Language Teaching: Faculty Beliefs and Practices in the Bicol Region,” challenging participants to rethink whose languages are welcomed in the classroom. Dr. Rebecca Rosario O. Bercasio, Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence, presented “Trends in Teaching and Assessing Reading and Writing,” equipping participants with practical strategies for literacy instruction and assessment.

Teachers, pre-service teachers, and education students from 24 institutions across the region attended the free webinar.

The proponents extend their heartfelt gratitude to the resource speakers, to the Graduate School, and to all participants who made the event a meaningful afternoon of learning. Indeed, many languages can thrive in one classroom, and the work of teaching across tongues continues.
