Ateneo de Naga University, in partnership with the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) and the Department of Education (DepEd), successfully hosted 1,286 private school teachers from across the region for the 2026 Regional In-Service Training (INSET) held at the Fr. Hilario Belardo, SJ Building. The massive training event accommodated a diverse delegation of teachers, comprising 584 Junior High School, 575 Senior High School, and 127 Kindergarten to Grade 6 teachers. As part of a continuing collaborative effort to elevate regional education standards, the intensive program focused on equipping participants with updated competencies, innovative pedagogical approaches, and learner-centered strategies aligned with the shared goal of delivering quality education.
Strengthening Junior High School Foundations
The JHS INSET was successfully conducted from May 18 to 20, 2026, under the leadership of the University President and PEAC Regional Program Director, Fr. Aristotle C. Dy, SJ.
Assisting Fr. Dy in organizing and managing the high-impact event was Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit, Director of the Ateneo Teacher Training Center and PEAC Regional Program Coordinator, alongside his dedicated core staff: Gerardo Matos, Jr.,Azenith Flor Santorce, and Jan Adriele Francisco.
This year’s JHS training centered on the crucial theme: “Tracking the Learners’ Progress: Strengthening and Elevating Students’ Performance in the Grades 9 and 10 Revised K to 10 Curriculum.”
Advancing Senior High School Competencies
Parallel to the other cohorts, the SHS INSET brought together upper-secondary educators from across the region from May 22 to 24, 2026, for intensive professional development and collaborative learning.
The SHS division focused its efforts under the timely theme: “Implementing the Strengthened Senior High School.” Sessions were designed to address modern implementation challenges, refine specialized tracks, and elevate classroom delivery for senior high educators.
Elevating K to 6 Instruction
Simultaneously running from May 22 to 24, 2026, the K to 6 INSET focused heavily on foundational education. Primary school teachers engaged in specialized workshops centered on the comprehensive theme: “Strengthening K to 6 Instruction Through Standards-Based Curriculum Aligned Assessment and Evidence-Based Pedagogy.”
The training provided participants with actionable, data-driven strategies to sharpen classroom assessment methods and implement proven teaching practices tailored for younger learners.
Professional Growth and Accreditation
A significant milestone for the attendees was the professional accreditation tied to the event. All participants of the training successfully earned Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credit points from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
The annual trainings form a vital component of the ongoing partnership between DepEd and PEAC, ensuring that private school educators remain deeply equipped to foster student success under the country’s evolving curricular landscapes.
With more than a thousand educators now returning to their respective institutions armed with refreshed competencies and updated curriculum insights, the region’s private education sector is strongly positioned for the upcoming academic year.
