Naga City, April 28, 2026 — Ateneo de Naga University (ADNU) strengthened its anti-drug advocacy through a stage play on substance abuse prevention titled “Love-Bomber, Maria Juana.”

The production was mounted through a collaborative effort of the Office of Student Affairs, the Ateneo Higher Education Health Services Office, and partner units, including the College Ignatian Formation Program (CIFP) and the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Department.

Held at the Alingal Multipurpose Hall, the two runs of the play were attended by an estimate of 400 students, most of whom were from CIFP and NSTP classes. It forms part of the University’s Drug-Free Campus Program, which promotes student well-being and responsible decision-making through various initiatives.

The performance was led by Dulaang Agabaab (DABA), the University’s recognized theater arts college student organization. Known for its socially engaged performances, DABA brought the story to life through a compelling portrayal that resonated with the audience and underscored the realities of substance abuse.

Written and directed by DABA’s Jerilou Abanilla, together with Toniliane Quillo and Assistant Director Nicole Grutas, the play showed how vulnerability, peer influence, and personal challenges can lead to substance use. By presenting these relatable stories, it helped students better understand the physical, psychological, and social consequences of substance abuse, while also highlighting the University’s prevention and intervention efforts. Forming the cast were Romero Antonio Dela Pena (Lead), Elijah Carla Laforteza (Maria Juana), Edward Alipio and Godwin Andrei Cruz (Nurses).

More than just a performance, the play is a call for students to take an active role in advocating for a safe and drug-free campus.

The University is set to continue organizing similar educational and formation activities in the coming semesters as part of its ongoing commitment to a safe, healthy, and drug-free campus environment.
