The Master in Public Administration (MPA) students enrolled in MMPA225-Public Service Improvement Administration facilitated a Service-Learning Activity titled Service Audit Workshop on Public Service Improvement and Service Excellence on April 20, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lecture Hall of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture – Pasacao Campus.
The half-day activity was designed as a structured and participatory program that combined orientation, knowledge sharing, and practical application to promote effective and citizen-centered public service.
The activity formally opened with registration, followed by preliminaries that included an Opening prayer, a message from Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Dean of Ateneo de Naga University-Graduate School, and an overview of the activity presented by Miko T. Ravago, MPA student.
In her message, Dr. Barcillano underscored the importance of strengthening public service systems through continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation, particularly in local governance and community engagement.
The workshop proper, facilitated by MPA students, served as the core of the activity and centered on developing awareness and practical competencies in service excellence. It began with a discussion of the rationale behind improving public service delivery, highlighting its relevance in addressing evolving public needs and expectations. This was followed by an interactive discussion of key concepts, issues, and best practices in delivering quality public services.
Participants were then engaged in hands-on workshop activities that allowed them to apply theoretical insights to practical scenarios, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving. The session concluded with a synthesis segment where participants reflected on their learning and identified key takeaways for improving service delivery in their respective contexts.
An evaluation segment followed, where participants provided feedback on the workshop’s content, facilitation, and overall effectiveness. The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates, recognizing the active participation and engagement of all attendees.
The Service Audit Workshop exemplified how service-learning initiatives can bridge academic knowledge and real-world application, reinforcing the role of graduate education in shaping responsive, efficient, and citizen-centered public service systems.
