Ateneo de Naga University participated in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED)–Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) project, “Leading Internationalization: Strengthening Institutional Capacity and Canada–Philippines Linkages.” The program brings together selected Philippine higher education institutions and CHED regional representatives to strengthen institutional systems for internationalization and deepen academic collaboration between Canada and the Philippines.

Dr. Marshal Murillo joins the program as the Senior-level participant, together with John Carlo G. Oliva and Cris Aian C. as Junior-level participants. The initiative includes online sessions that began on 13 February 2026 and an in-person leadership training for senior-level participants held from 02–06 March 2026 in Intramuros, Manila, organized by the Commission on Higher Education – International Affairs Service (CHED–IAS) and the CBIE with support from the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada.

CHED-CBIE selected thirty higher education institutions nationwide for the program, representing State Universities and Colleges, Local Universities and Colleges, and private institutions across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Ateneo de Naga University stands as the only university from Region V included in the cohort.

The opportunity and the learning gained from this program support ADNU’s 2030 Strategic Plan, particularly its direction on internationalization and partnership building, which aims to strengthen global academic collaboration and expand the University’s engagement with international higher education networks.
