On January 21, graduating students enrolled in the Community Outreach Program (COP) took part in the NATAD Project, a new initiative of the Center for Community Development. This project promotes sustainable waste management by repurposing used cups as seedling pots for fruit-bearing trees. For the entire duration of the activity, the students were able to plant seedlings of 46 Narra, 7 money tree, 4 Pili, and 13 Bignay.

As we respond to the call of Laudato Si’, we, as a university community, are challenged to move toward a more sustainable way of living. Through the NATAD Project, our goal is to establish a tangible waste management initiative that allows every community member to participate and actively practice sustainability. In time, we hope to develop a NATAD Nursery Garden within the campus 🌿—a primary source of fruit-bearing trees that will support the University’s tree-planting activities and provide food for our partner communities.

For this to happen, we invite all members of the Ateneo de Naga University community to take part in this initiative.

NATAD Bins have been strategically placed in canteens around the main campus (Bonoan, Belardo, and Xavier). If you have recyclable cups from these canteens, we strongly encourage you to place them in the NATAD Bins instead of throwing them in the trash 🗑️➡️🌱.

In this simple way, we can all put into practice the Laudato Si’ lifestyle. #NATADProject #LaudatoSi
