Naga City, Philippines – March 14, 2025 – Graduate students of the Master in Public Administration (MPA) program from Ateneo de Naga University successfully conducted a Discussion-Workshop Service-Learning Activity (SLA) aimed at enhancing operational efficiency within the National Food Authority (NFA) Camarines Sur. The “Process Improvement for National Food Authority – Camarines Sur” activity was attended by 18 agency employees and served as a platform for dialogue, learning, and collaborative problem-solving.
The workshop sought to assess existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and recommend strategies to optimize the efficiency of NFA Camarines Sur’s operations. The initiative aligns with Ateneo de Naga University’s commitment to public service, capacity-building, and governance improvement through academic-community engagement.
During the session, MPA students facilitated discussions on best practices in public administration, organizational management, and service delivery. Various challenges encountered by the agency, particularly in procurement, distribution, and inventory management, were analyzed. Interactive workshops allowed participants to propose actionable solutions to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and ensure effective service to the public.
The NFA Camarines Sur employees actively participated in the discussions, sharing their insights and experiences regarding the agency’s daily operations. Their engagement underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in improving service delivery and addressing operational bottlenecks.
Dr. Malu Barcillano, Dean of the Graduate School, emphasized the value of experiential learning in public administration education and ensured that the theories the students gathered would be used in practice. Meanwhile, an NFA representative expressed appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the relevance of the discussions in addressing the agency’s operational concerns.
The event concluded with a commitment from both parties to sustain the collaboration and explore further initiatives that can support the continuous improvement of public sector service delivery.
