2-5 October 2024 — four teachers and two students from the Ateneo de Naga University Graduate School presented their papers at the 2024 Language and Literature International Conference (LLICON) held at the Catanduanes State University in Virac, Catanduanes. The conference was organized by the Bicol Association of Language and Literature Teachers, Inc. (BALLT), with the Catanduanes State University (CATSU) as a co-convener.

Through the lens of diversity, equity, and exclusivity, the conference focused on the interplay of research and language and literature education. It delved into the ever-evolving global landscape and examined how language and literature advance understanding, respect, and empowerment across diverse communities.
Dr. Cyril Conde and Rochellee Jane Idanan, his student in the Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Teaching program, discussed their paper, Function in Focus: An Analysis of Usipon Oral Narratives of the Agtas on Mt. Asog, Camarines Sur.
Dr. Cyril Conde, along with Dr. Elsie C. Albis-Escober and Esmeralda Albis, an alumna of the Language and Literature Studies (LLS) department, also presented another paper, Praxis and Performance: Syncretism and the Fellowship of Shamans Minalabac, Camarines Sur.
Dr. Virna Villanueva discussed her paper, Rape Myths in Philippine Court Trials: Are Victims Re-traumatized? She also shared another paper, Beyond Viewing: A Metadiscourse Analysis of Vlogs, with Maria Cecelia Dy, her Doctor of Philosophy in Language and Literacy Development student.
Dr. Jenifer Sevilla, presented the paper, Language Imperialism: A Study about the Linguistics Decision of Parents Regarding their Child’s Mother Tongue, with her student from the LLS department, Arabel Grace Hipolito.
Overall, the participation of some faculty and students from the graduate school in conferences hopes to encourage more student and teacher research collaborations. These research presentations highlight the importance of shared knowledge, promoting learning that transcends the classroom.
