AdNU-MBA Class Conducts Seminar Workshop on Strategic Management

28 September 2024 — the MBA students immersed themselves in a Service-Learning Activity as they organized a half-day Seminar-Workshop on Strategic Management for the students of Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges at Naga City. The participants were composed of about 60 students under the Hotel and Management Program of the Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges.

Dr. Malu Barcillano, the Dean of the Ateneo Graduate School and the Professor of the MBA237 Strategic Management Class, delivered the opening remarks. In her message, Dean Barcillano highlighted the importance of the activity and the relevance of strategic management to the professional lives of the students.

The seminar was facilitated by Marole Nale, an MBA student and Program Chair of the BSBA Department of the Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges. With over 7 years of corporate experience and being a Business Owner, Ms. Nale has introduced the concepts of strategic management and provided invaluable insights to the students. Her expertise in business development and strategic planning has offered participants a comprehensive understanding of the skills needed to develop and implement strategies, including evaluation and control required to achieve long-term objectives.

The session provided an overview of Strategic Management principles, explored the formulation and implementation of strategies, covered real-life applications, and concluded with a workshop. In the workshop, the participants go through their strategic planning, which includes the formulation of goals and strategies to achieve their individual long-term goals. A group sharing session followed which was joined by MBA students who acted as facilitators. As part of the activity, the participants also presented their output and shared insights with the bigger group. This provided the participants with essential tools to strengthen their planning abilities and to build confidence in implementation. The seminar workshop has garnered highly satisfactory evaluation ratings from participants. Their active participation proves that the activity has a significant impact on their personal lives.

The Ateneo Graduate School remains dedicated to supporting the development of students with a commitment to excellence, alongside helping communities that will contribute to nation-building by organizing programs such as Service-Learning Activities.
