Empowering Professionals: ADNU-CLG’s Successful Facilitation Training Expands Community Reach

Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Governance concluded with a resounding success the “Training on the Technology of Participation (ToP1): Basic Group Facilitation Methods,” expanding its reach beyond university staff to the general public. Held on August 29-30, 2024, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, this training took place at the Graduate School Thesis Room, Ground Floor of Fr. Godofredo Alingal, S.J. Hall, drawing participants eager to enhance their facilitation skills.

The two-day workshop, led by the esteemed Director of Center for Local Governance, and Dean of the AdNU-Graduate School, Dr. Malu Barcillano, alongside her co-facilitator Ms. Camille Faye R. Badong, focused on equipping attendees with foundational facilitation techniques essential for fostering engagement and productivity in group settings. The training process, derived from the highly regarded methods used in the USAID-funded GOLD Project, offered practical tools and strategies to manage and guide effective group interactions.

The University’s Graduate School 1st year Master in Public Administration students took advantage of this unique opportunity to learn alongside the university’s own staff, gaining insights and techniques that are directly applicable to their own work environments. The training’s comprehensive approach and real-world relevance were highlighted as key factors contributing to its success.

One of Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Governance’s broader initiatives is fostering professional development and skill enhancement across a wider community. By opening the training to the public, the university has created an avenue for individuals outside of its institution to benefit from its expert resources and innovative methods.

As the training concluded, participants expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights and practical skills gained. Many remarked on the potential impact of these newly acquired techniques on their professional practice and personal development.

For those who missed this session, the center continuously offers similar opportunities in the future. Stay tuned for future announcements on upcoming workshops and training sessions designed to foster growth and expertise across diverse professional fields.
