An Orientation on Ethical Considerations in Research was organized by the Ateneo de Naga University Graduate School in coordination with the Institutional Research Ethics Committee on the 13th of April 2024, Saturday via Zoom.
This Orientation on Ethical Considerations in Research allowed the participants to be aware of the responsibility to respect and protect the rights of participants in the study; to clarify the responsibilities of both researchers and human participants; to promote the responsible care and use of animals in research; be mindful of the protection of the environment; and to follow relevant government regulations in the conduct of research.
The resource speakers who are also the members of Institutional Research Ethics Committee were introduced by Mr. Aldrin Belmes, Coordinator for Special Projects and Volunteer Program, CCD.
Mr. Richard Martin Bautista, Faculty Member, Psychology Dept., Ms. Jonafel Singson, Faculty Member, Theology Dept., Dr. Ramona Renegado, Faculty Member, Natural Sciences Dept., and Dr. Marlyn Tejada, IREC-Chairperson educated the participants about the Importance & Principles of Research Ethics Review; Types of Research Ethics Review & Research Ethics Review Process; Protocol Reviewer Worksheet & Vulnerability; and Informed Consent & Consent Checklist, respectively.
It was participated by two hundred eighteen combined registered participants who are Graduate School Faculty and Students.
During the open forum, the queries of the participants were answered by the Institutional Research Ethics Committee Chairperson, Dr. Marlyn Tejada.
The webinar was facilitated by the moderator, Dr. Peñafrancia Olayon-Reyta, Graduate School Faculty, Ateneo de Naga University. Further, the online activity was operated with the assistance of technical support staff Mr. Emmanuel P. Llorin, Desktop Support Personnel, NOCS Department.
