The Ateneo de Naga University-Graduate School conducted a Students’ Research Colloquium with the theme “Nurturing a Vibrant Research Culture Across Programs in the Graduate School” on December 9, 2023. It was held at the Alingal Multi-Purpose Hall, Fr. Godofredo Alingal, S.J. Building, Ateneo de Naga University.
The Research Colloquium served as a platform for our Graduate students who have completed their academic paper /thesis to share and disseminate the significant findings of their research. Further, it was an avenue for those currently enrolled Graduate students to learn the research journey as experienced by the researchers aside from the research per se.
There were seven (7) presenters who were invited to share their theses and dissertations, respectively. Four (4) of them were graduates from the Master’s Programs, namely: (1) Armida Lasala-Naz, Master in Public Administration (MPA) graduate who shared her thesis entitled “Impact of Case-based Payment on Maternal Healthcare Services Provided by Bicol Medical Center (2022”); (2) Joyce Camille Cepe, Master in Business Administration (MBA) graduate who presented her thesis entitled “Technology Business Incubation Capabilities of State Universities and Colleges in Bicol Region, Philippines (2022)”; (3) Rizalyn Sahagun, Master in Education (MAED) major in Filipino graduate who share her thesis entitled “Pagtanggap sa Intralingguwal na Pagsasalin ng Pasyong Bikol (2023)”and (4) Melvin Angeles, Master of Arts in Psychology (MA Psy) major in Counseling Psychology graduate who discussed his thesis entitled “Exploring the Relationship, Experiences, and Role of Counselors in Improving Resiliency and Academic Performance Among College Students: A Mixed-Method Research (2023)”.
Further, there were three (3) Doctorate graduates who presented their dissertations, namely: (1) Darrel Ocampo, Doctor of Philosophy in Language and Literacy Development (PhD LLD) graduate who shared his dissertation entitled “The Components of Metapragmatic Competence and their Relationship with Language Learning Strategies (2022; (2) Gail Dans-Abasolo, Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) graduate who presented her dissertation entitled “The Big Five Personality Traits and Implementation of Green Practices of the Homegrown Restaurants in Camarines Norte: A Canonical Correlation Analysis (2023)” and (3) Niña Salve King, Doctor of Philosophy major in Educational Psychology (PhD Educ Psy) who discussed her dissertation entitled “The Personal Resilience, Mental Wellbeing, and Turnover Intention among the Public-School Teachers in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Mixed Method Research (2023).
After the presentation, an open forum was held where the Graduate School students raised queries relative to their academic journey including the preparation for them to complete their research. There were 173 participants who actively participated in the said event.
The activity was graciously moderated by Ms. Jane Pauleen Morales-Lacson. Further, it was spearheaded by Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Dean of the Graduate School.
