AdNU-CLG Concludes Bridging Leadership Course with Partnerships for Convergence

The Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Governance (AdNU-CLG), a member of the Local Governance Training Research and Institutes-Philippine Network (LoGoTRI-PhilNet) of the Local Government Academy (LGA) in the region, offered the Online Certificate Course on Bridging Leadership with its topic entitled PARTNERSHIPS FOR CONVERGENCE.

The course helps participants recognize the significance of synergizing and fostering collaborative work with different groups and institutions to address societal concerns collectively. This process equips them with the skills needed to build successful partnerships and establish connections with a variety of groups, enabling them to better respond to community issues in a more integrated manner.

With the demands of a rapid transition to the digital era ignited by the pandemic, ADNU-CLG has been utilizing the digital platform for the delivery of capability-building activities true to the Center’s mandate in continuously striving to provide technical assistance towards genuine participative governance through a strong and sustainable partnership with various stakeholders. Now that we have learned to adapt to the current state of this health crisis, it is high time to take it up a notch by incorporating a digital setup from the traditional mode of service delivery.

The online certificate course started with an Opening Message delivered by Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Dean of the Graduate School and Director of the Center for Local Governance, Ateneo de Naga University.

In both training sessions, Dr. Malu C. Barcillano served as a moderator and a trainer. She walked through the participants with the Bridging Leadership and its framework. Further, Dr. Barcillano had a comprehensive presentation on the Introduction to the Art of Hosting on Day Two of the online training.

Mr. Ryan Giancarlo Macandog, College Faculty, Business Management Courses Department at Ateneo de Naga University, served as a trainer during the first session of the online certificate course. He comprehensively explained the topic of Public Narrative. It is focused on how to craft inspiring narrative stories that deeply resonate with viewers. This art involves weaving relatable characters through well-paced plots, evoking emotions with vivid descriptions.

The trainer in the second session, Mr. Francisco Rico Raquitico, a Graduate School Faculty at Ateneo de Naga University, effectively explained during the final session the Introduction to Nonviolent Communication. It is a guide on how to improve communication, conflict resolution, and connection by shifting focus to observing, feeling, needing, and requesting. It promotes valuing everyone’s needs and fostering compassionate giving for better relationships.

The said online certificate course was joined by fourteen (14) registered participants coming from various academic institutions and government sectors across the nation through ZOOM Cloud Meetings last August 24-25, 2023. It is composed of faculty, LGU employees, and Graduate School students from Ateneo de Naga University.

Furthermore, with the help of the technical support team from the Fr. James O’Brien Library, namely Sherwin Perez and Emmanuel Llorin specifically led by Ms. Edna San Buenaventura, University Librarian the online certificate course was effectively conducted.
