Re: NEW ATENEO DE NAGA UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT

I am very pleased to announce that in its regular meeting earlier today, the Ateneo de Naga University Board of Trustees elected Fr. Aristotle “Ari” C. Dy, S.J. as the fifth University President.
Fr. Ari is concurrently the President of Xavier School in San Juan City and the Education Research and Development Assistance Group. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1993 and was ordained priest in 2004. He holds BS Business Management-Honors, MA Philosophy, and MA Theological Studies degrees from the Ateneo de Manila University, as well as a Masters in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong. He obtained his PhD in the Study of Religions from the University of London in 2013. He previously served as Director of Jesuit Communications, as well as Associate Director of the Confucius Institute and Director of the Ricardo Leong Center for Chinese Studies, both in Ateneo de Manila. Fr. Ari brings to the Ateneo de Naga a wealth of experience in education administration and academic scholarship.

We give thanks to the University President Search Committee headed by Fr. Harvey Mateo SJ, for their thorough and painstaking work. I am especially grateful to the entire University community for your participation in the search process.

Details and schedules regarding Fr. Ari’s takeover as University President sometime after he ends his term as President of Xavier School on 31 March 2024 will be provided in subsequent announcements. In the meantime, we pray for Fr. Ari as he prepares to assume the leadership of the Ateneo de Naga University, and for our Ateneo community during this period of transition.
As always, we entrust our Ateneo mission to our Loving God, through the intercession of Ina. Ad majorem Dei gloriam!
