The Ateneo de Naga University through the Center for Local Governance (AdNU-CLG) enthusiastically opened the Webinar Series on Replicable Practices on Local Governance last 11 August 2023, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm via ZOOM Cloud Meetings, featuring award-winning municipalities and cities in Camarines Sur starting with an awardee of the Most Competitive Component City of 2022 by the Department of Trade and Industry, City Government of Naga, Camarines Sur.
The webinar series aims to be an avenue to gain practical knowledge, actionable insights and be motivated to drive positive change in their own communities. By hearing from award-winning LGUs’ experiences, it can fuel local leaders, young leaders, policymakers, and practitioners with the information they need to improve governance.
The webinar began in the virtual presence of Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of the Center for Local Governance, and the Dean of the Graduate School, where she delivered a heartily opening message.
Mr. Wilfredo B. Prilles, Jr.,the City Planning and Development Coordinator of the City Government of Naga, Camarines Sur breakdowned the success indicators that made the city champion in areas of economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resilience, innovation, and other best practices. He also presented the Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index ranking comparisons from 2017-2022 as Naga City journeyed its way to winning the title of Most Competitive Component City of 2022.
The open forum was moderated by Ms. Camille Faye R. Badong, a Master in Public Administration (MPA) student of the ADNU-Graduate School where the ZOOM session was flooded with thought provoking questions concerning education, health, gender inclusivity, safety and protection and other related topics on Naga City’s initiatives on good governance from participants addressed to Mr. Prilles.
Moreover, the said webinar was attended by more than a hundred registered participants representing local government units, national government agencies, and other sectors as well as students and faculty members from various schools and universities across the country.
The webinar was successfully concluded with the assistance of the technical support staff of the James O’Brien Library, Sherwin B. Perez and Emmanuel P. Llorin (led by Ms. Edna San Buenaventura, University Librarian).
