On 8 June 2023, Mayon Volcano was placed under Alert Level 3 by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHILVOLCS) due to the volcano’s increased tendency towards possible hazardous eruption. The Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office APSEMO/ PDRRMC (Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council) has recommended that the 6-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) be evacuated due to the danger of Pyroclastic Density Currents (PDC), lava flows, rockfalls, and other volcanic hazards. NDRRMC’s latest situational report showed that 19,062 individuals or 5,492 families are currently staying in 28 evacuation centers, while 1,057 individuals, or 300 families are seeking shelters outside of evacuation centers.
With this, the Center for Community Development is launching the #AgapAtenista #TabangMayon Disaster Relief Response. The eruption has caused significant displacement among our fellow Albayanos, leaving countless communities in dire need of assistance. We humbly request your generous donations to aid in the relief and recovery efforts of the affected areas.
