Ateneo De Naga University Graduate School’s Master in Business Administration Program through the MBA 233- Operations and Systems Management class conducted a Service-Learning Activity (SLA) activity on April 27, 2023, in partnership with Tubig Nabua Inc., a water utility company in Nabua, Camarines Sur. The service-learning activity aimed to provide recommendations to improve Tubig Nabua’s operations in three key areas: inventory management, customer service, and billing.
Before the service-learning activity, the MBA students underwent a pre-evaluation process to familiarize themselves with Tubig Nabua’s current operations. This was followed by a visit to the company’s office and one of its pumping stations to gain a firsthand understanding of the process of water delivery to customers.
The SLA program proper was opened by Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, the Dean of the ADNU Graduate School and the subject teacher. Present in the program were Tubig Nabua officers, including Ms. Rochelle Daza, Accounting Head, Ms. Princess Villar, Commercial and Procurement Head, Ms. Jenny Pesebre, HR Officer, and Mr. Neil Escuro, Assistant Technical Head, with their respective staff. Engr. Philip Bitao, a member of the class and the Technical Department Head of Tubig Nabua, presented on behalf of Tubig Nabua, and provided an overview of the company’s history, operations, projects, and future plans.
Following their evaluation, the MBA students presented their recommendations during the SLA to enhance Tubig Nabua’s inventory management, customer service, and billing processes, which were grounded on the principles taught in their Operations and Systems Management course.
During the program, the MBA students presented their recommendations for improving Tubig Nabua’s operations. Jocelyn Mendina, Aycee Cleo Sanchez, Julie Jarviña, and Jasmin Din shared their insights on inventory management, while Jhessica Rhian Peyra focused on customer service. Arabelle Orpia, Sarah Jean Samaniego, and Lara Elaiza Cerio discussed billing process improvements. The program was hosted by Yhumica De Mesa and Jasmin Din. After the presentation, an open forum was held, allowing representatives from Tubig Nabua and the MBA class to exchange thoughts and ideas, as well as respond to questions.
Ms. Rochelle Daza, delivered a message of thanks on behalf of Engr. Jefrey James Natividad, the Branch Manager, for choosing Tubig Nabua as their partner organization in this activity. During her speech, she expressed gratitude for the valuable recommendations presented during the seminar and conveyed Tubig Nabua’s commitment to effectively implementing the recommendations with the ultimate goal of enhancing customer service and satisfaction.
Fr. Ronnie Belgica, the overall in-charge of the Service-Learning Activity, concluded the program on behalf of the operations and systems management class. The MBA students gained valuable experience through the service-learning activity and provided Tubig Nabua with recommendations to improve its operations. Ateneo De Naga University continues to prioritize practical experience and making a positive impact on society through its programs.
