The Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Goverance has just concluded its 5th set of Online Certificate Courses 5.1 titled “Communication and Persuasion: From the Familiar to the Digital” and 5.2 titled “Effective Data Visualization and Design” held on November 25-26, 2021, and December 9-10, 2021, respectively. Dr. Marshal P. Murillo and Dr. Ma. Filipinas H. Bana were the trainers on the first course, discussing how communication is being challenged in today’s digital world, especially during this pandemic. One must learn how to effectively and persuasively communicate while being aware of the different modes or styles of communication, particularly in the digital world. All participants agreed and approved that understanding and learning how to remove communication barriers, one can become an effective communicator both from the familiar to the digital.
On the other hand, Dr. Marshal P. Murillo and Lawrence Joseph T. Paculan were the trainers for the second online course entitled “Effective Data Visualization and Design.” In this activity, they discussed the significance of visual information as an effective and new form of communication. Mr. Paculan further stressed the importance of data visualization and effective digital storytelling in the current tread of the fourth industrial revolution. The participants were taught how to create and design an effective infographic that they could actually use in their respective field of expertise. This event was held last Dec. 9-10, 2021 at the James O’Brien Library, Ateneo de Naga University via zoom cloud meeting.
The said activity was made possible in coordination with the technical support personnel, namely, Sherwin Perez and Emmanuel Llorin of the Fr. James O’Brien, S.J. Library with the support from Ms. Edna San Buenaventura, University Librarian.
