The Ateneo Teacher Training Center was invited by Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi Association of Private Schools (ZALBASULTAPS-CEAP) to conduct a two-day Webinar-Writeshop on Trimodal Assessments on 10 to 11 November 2021 via zoom.
The said topic was authoritatively discussed by Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit, ATTC Director, and a fellow of the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association (PEMEA). He highlighted the changing roles of classroom assessments in the 21st century and how to construct high-quality test items. Further, on the second day, he discussed the two other modes of classroom assessments, namely performance-based and portfolio assessments as alternatives in the new normal. The two models of designing performance assessment tasks of McMillan (2001) and Wiggins and McTighe (2011), test construction, and rubric development were the topics for writeshop of the participants. Also, they were also asked to prepare portfolio assessments for the new normal.
On 24 November, he was invited as resource speaker on the theme, Curriculum Mapping, Learning Plans, and Assessment by the Mother Theresa Colegio Group of Schools across the mainland of Luzon (Taguig, Zambales, Pampanga, Cavite, Iriga, and Bula) for the in-service training of their junior and senior high school teachers.
In a related news, the College of Education of the four-campus of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) requested him too to train them on alternative assessments for the new normal and writing LET-like test items. Dr. Reganit discussed portfolio assessment as an unexplored method and as the appropriate assessment method in the new normal and even for the outcomes-based education. In the afternoon, he critique the sample e-portfolios and LET-like test items presented by the select faculty members and provided them tips on how to be a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education.
