The Ateneo de Naga University-Graduate School through the Guidance Office conducted an Enrichment Session for Graduate School Students with the theme “EMBRACING THE CHALLENGES OF THE TIMES WITH A PROACTIVE MINDSET” on 16 October 2021, from 1:00 – 3:00 in the afternoon via Google Meet.
The objectives of the session were (1) to differentiate between behaviors and thinking that are proactive and those that are reactive; (2) identify the qualities and characteristics of a proactive behavior; and (3) articulate relevant strategies which adult learners can use to thrive amidst the challenges brought by the Graduate School New Normal.
The resource speaker for this Enrichment Session was Ms. Mimilanie O. Orbon. She is a full-time Faculty member of the Psychology Department, College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Ms. Orbon discussed thoroughly the effective ways on how to have a proactive mindset, learn new skills, brainstorm innovative ideas, come up with efficient processes, and improve performance in the work and school.
Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Dean of the AdNU Graduate School gave the welcome remarks and underscored salient points of the activity. The host/moderator was Ms. Alyza Joyce P. Alarkon, a Master of Public Administration student in the graduate school.
There were ninety-two (92) Graduate School students who have participated in the online activity. As expressed by most of the participants, the said activity was timely, relevant, and responsive to the challenges of the times. Further, as shown in the evaluation results, many were able to gain insights and learn strategies on how they could survive the challenges of being in the Graduate School.
The success of this event honors the hard work of everyone involved from the participants down to the working staff and other support services.
