ADNU CLG Offers Second Set of Online Certificate Courses

The Covid19 pandemic changed the world’s view of life and living. Due to its nature, it has reformed our values, ideals, and routines. It challenged the national health system and framework while it exacerbated the state of education, business, and governance. In accordance to health protocols and regulations, people are forced to change their lifestyle, from face to face academic classes, business transaction, and government programs to being confined in their own houses, physically distancing themselves to ensure safety. In this light, the Ateneo de Naga University- Center for Local Governance in coordination with Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry offers its second set of online certificate courses which focuses on business related topics with the use of the digital platform.

The first course is entitled ‘CONCEIVE’ which is all about Business Prospects and Opportunities in the Digital Economy and was held last October 29-30, 2020. The lecture is administered by Mr. Juan Raul Ll. Relloso, Chairperson of the Allied Business Courses Department of the Ateneo de Naga University. He discussed how Micro, Small, and Medium Sized Enterprises can maximize the use of e-commerce, app stores, online advertising, network platforms and more. To give more emphasis in the importance of thriving in the digital economy in this new normal, Mr. Relloso accentuated the 9 building blocks of Business Model Canvas and how to connect the dots in its process. He also explains the best way of dealing with people through different digital and online platforms. At the end of the course, participants not only learn the business projections and how to make a business model canvas but also the significance of mastering the art of relationship in business.

Another course is called ‘CONVERT’ which centers on Remaking Business in Digital Economy. Ms. Aileen L. Rillon, Faculty of MBA-Graduate School and College of Computer Studies of the Ateneo de Naga University, trains the participants how to transform a business into a digital one. This course presents the digital technologies in reinventing business operations for efficiency, productivity and profitability. Ms. Rillon also gives information on how to measure the business process optimization and step by step instruction in business process transformation. Aside from creating a plan on fundamental changes in the organization, the participants also take away bonuses in the class such as different digital strategies and ways on adding value to the customers. Convert is also a two-day course which was held last Jaunuary 14-15, 2021.

To finish the second set of the certificate course, Dr. Ed R. Pilapil, Jr., Faculty of Master in Business in Administration-Graduate School of the Ateneo de Naga University educates the participant for the last topic entitled ‘CONVEY’ which is about Digital Marketing Strategies. Dr. Pilapil highlights the overview of digital marketing and lends guidance in designing marketing strategy maps. He shares the why, what, how and who of digital strategies. He explains how it helps in reaching and engaging with targeted customers, its cost versus the traditional media, and how it’s an edge to competitors. He also discussed search engine marketing, organic marketing, email marketing and more importantly the impact of digital strategies on business decision-making and operations. The participants also grasp the idea of how essential digital marketing on imprinting the brand in the minds of the customer. Like the previous topics, this is also a two-day course which was held last January 28-29, 2021.


The online certificate course is facilitated by the moderator, Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of Center for Local Governance. It was joined by the members of the local government units, entrepreneurs and aspiring to be one who attended through ZOOM Cloud Meetings.

Moreover, the activity was conducted with collaborative assistance of technical support team composed of Mr. Sherwin B. Perez and Mr. Emmanuel P. Llorin of the James J. O’Brien, S.J. Library (headed by the University Librarian, Ms. Edna M. Buenaventura).
