The Ateneo de Naga University- Center for Local Governance and Knowledge for Development Community (KDC) in coordination with the Graduate School-Master in Business in Administration (MBA) and Master in Public Administration (MPA) Cluster with World bank in the Philippines conducted a webinar entitled: “Braving the New Normal: The Philippines Economic Update” on 24 August 2020.

The said topic was discussed by Dr. Kevin D. Chua, Economist of Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice from the World Bank in the Philippines. Dr. Chua highlighted in his discussion the impact of COVID-19 in our economy.  Further, he presented policy measures to revive the economy.

After the discussion and presentation, Dr. Chua gladly responded to the reflections and insights of the invited reactors namely: Dr. Marlyn L. Tejada, Director of Ateneo Social Science Research Center, Mr. Mico Raul R. Melchor, and Ms. Jocel L. Magistrado, Graduate School Students representing the MBA and MPA Programs, respectively.

The webinar was facilitated by the moderator Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of the Center for Local Governance. There were questions raised through the Facebook and YouTube live chat which were addressed by the speaker.  It was also attended by participants from the Local Government Units, academe, public and private sector including the other Knowledge for Development Community (KDC) member-institutes across the country that have an access of the platforms used during the Webinar. Further, Dr. Alfredo C. Fabay, Vice President for Higher Education, gave the closing message to wrap up the afternoon’s informative webinar.

The live streaming webinar was mainly operated by the collaborative assistance of technical support team composed of Mr. Sherwin B. Perez and Mr. Emmanuel P. Llorin of the James J. O’Brien, S.J. Library (headed by Ms. Edna M. Buenaventura, University Librarian) and Mr. Ronald P. Royo Jr. of the Management Information System Office.
