AdNU-CLG Conducts 1st set of Online Certificate Courses

The Ateneo de Naga University – Center for Local Governance  conducted the 1st set of Online Certificate Courses categorized into three (3) topics: STARThink, CONNECThink and CREAThink which aims for participants to gain substantial knowledge that can help in coping up in their respective workplaces with the technological demands in this time of new normal.

The first Online Course entitled ‘STARThink’ was held on 5 August 2020 tackled The Basics of Computer and Internet Skills handled by Engr. Zero S. Magallon, Director of Network Operations and Computer Services. The course covers basic technical skills relative to the use of computer and internet in the workplace. Specifically, it walk-through participants to the efficient use of word processing, managing computer files, creating presentations and the effective utilization of search engines and other internet functions.

The second Online Course was conducted on 6-7 August 2020 which focused on Digital Applications for Effective Communication with the title ‘CONNECThink handled by Aileen S. Rillon, Faculty of the MBA-Graduate School and College of Computer Studies. The course covers the use of wide variety of digital/web applications needed for effective communication both in the internal and external clients of an organization. She discussed the topic thoroughly by doing some demonstrations using the Gmail and Facebook.

For the last Online Certificate Course called ‘CREAThink’, it covered the Virtual Information Materials which was discussed by Lawrence Joseph T. Paculan, Faculty of Computer Studies and Chairperson of AD-2D AVFX Department and was held on 13-14 August 2020. The course covers the designing and preparation of virtual information templates and materials which includes info graphics, e-posters and other marketing slides and video clips for easy transmission and access of information to the target recipient/clients of the organization. He used ‘Canva’ application to do some demonstration and to explain the topic further.

The conduct of the Online Certificate Courses was facilitated by the moderator, Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of the Center for Local Governance while said courses were attended by participants from the  Local Government Units, private and academe sector across the country.

Further,  the activity was conducted with the collaborative assistance of the technical support team composed of Sherwin B. Perez and Mr. Emmanuel P. Llorin of the James J. O’Brien, S.J. Library (headed by the University Librarian, Ms. Edna M. Buenaventura).
