AdNU-CLG Participates in L!STONG UGNAYAN, COVID-19 AY LABANAN Webinar

In response to the call of Bayanihan amongst the local government and academic institutions through collaborations for the betterment of the society especially in this time of pandemic, the Ateneo de Naga University-Center for Local Governance (AdNU-CLG), a member of the Local Governance Training Research and Institutes-Philippine Network (LoGoTRI-PhilNet) of the Local Government Academy (LGA) and at the same time serving as the Vice-President for Luzon in the region, joined the webinar series on L!STONG UGNAYAN, COVID-19 AY LABANAN with the title “Strengthening Partnership for Local Governance: A Consultation on Local Governance Partners’ Initiatives” last June 9, 2020.

The Local Government Academy is a mandated institution for local governance capacity development which has been providing support to the local government units as they lead the battle against COVID-19 pandemic to heal as one country thus, launching this webinar series to enhance the competency and accountability of Local Government officials to their respective communities.

Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of Center for Local Governance, represented Ateneo de Naga University as one of the resource speakers. Her discussion covered the institution’s management of the COVID-19 pandemic health crisis in providing continuous education and services to its outside stakeholders. In compliance to the precautionary measures of the Department of Health which were strictly implemented in our locality, she also cited some of the initiatives of the university in response to adapting to the ‘new normal’. As a Jesuit institution, we uphold the value of volunteerism in helping rebuild the society through collaborations with the city government in ensuring safety in our region.

The session which aims to discuss various COVID-19 initiatives undertaken by Local Research Institutes (LRIs) with their respective localities, featured Dr. Marlon DL. Era, President of LoGoTRI-PhilNet, and other presentations coming from LRI partners namely: Jesse Robredo Institute of Governance, Eastern Samar University, Caraga State University and Bukidnon State University.  DILG Local Governance Regional Resource Centers also participated, including DILG Assistant Regional Directors, in the said webinar.
