The university conducted a University-Wide Earthquake Drill last Thursday, 30 January 2020. The Ateneo School Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management Group (SBDRRMG) in partnership with the Naga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection Naga (BFP Naga) took part in the emergency exercise.

Despite the rain, students, faculty, staff, and administrators of the Bagumbayan campus evacuated to their respective Places of Rallying Points while building marshals assist the evacuation procedures. The drill lasted for an hour.

During the evaluation, the evaluators noted some irregularities during the conduct of the drill such as the use path walks as Places of Rallying Points. Despite these, Fire Officer 1 Francis Verdadero told CCD News that community awareness is the key to successful drill operations.

The exercise was conducted to train the Ateneo community on the dos and don’ts during an earthquake emergency.
