The Ateneo de Naga University – Center for Local Governance in coordination with the Ateneo de Naga University Graduate School-Master in Business Administration (MBA) and Master in Public Administration (MPA) Cluster starts the year with two lecture fora last 11 January 2020 at the Instructional Media Center.
Carlo B. Buenaflor, CEO of Bigg’s Inc., began the lecture forum for the morning session entitled BIGG’s coming Bigger:Growth Strategies on how they get their Niche in the Industry that highlighted the growth strategies employed by Biggs, Inc as a growing fast-food chain/restaurant and how they specifically got their place in the food industry. The participants from the Graduate School-MPA and MBA Cluster, College, Faculty in the university were so engaged that prompted them to raise queries to our speaker whom he supplemented with the history of Bigg’s that paved the way on its present success.
The day continues with the afternoon’s session “Webinar on Enabling Local Governments Amidst the Industrial Revolution 4.0” which was conducted in partnership with the Philippine Society of Public Administration (PSPA) and the Association of Schools of Public Administration in the Philippines, Inc (ASPAP, Inc.). The said theme is part of the PSPA’s advocacy program in line with the conduct of the Good Governance caravan launched in the University of Makati (UMAK) in March 2018. The Center initiated to host this event here in Bicol through this Webinar.
Dr. Lizan Perante-Calina, President of PSPA and Dr. Sanjay P. Claudio, President of ASPAP who is representing the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), served as the resource speakers via streaming who tackled the risks and challenges that could affect manufacturing resurgence, reverse the significant strides in services trade, affect attempts to improve agricultural productivity, and block the country’s ability to reach its zero poverty that our local government must pay close attention as well as the involvement of their respective associations and institutions in addressing these concerns.
In relating to the present initiative of local government, Reuel M. Oliver, Information Technology Officer of LGU Naga, presented the
i-LED program, highlighting the comprehensive and complementary use of existing ICT programs to respond to issues and concerns of the city. Also, Hon. Mary Jean Nicopior-Te, Chief Executive Officer of Libertad, Antique, focused the Initiatives & Development Efforts/Agenda in the Age of Industrial Revolution 4.0 that they employ via live broadcast from Central Philippine University, an ASPAP institution representing Visayas.
After which, participating ASPAP member schools, namely Central Philippine University and Ateneo de Naga University were each given ample time for their queries during the round of questions portion of the program to which all of the presenters were able to express their insightful views and ideas via live streaming broadcast. Joining this event as the audience from the Ateneo community are Graduate School-MPA and MBA students, College students, faculty and staff as well as from ASPAP member schools in the province of Camarines Sur namely, Naga College Foundation and University of Northeastern Philippines.
Charles Michael G. Salas of the MBA program and Jocel L. Magistrado of the MPA program served as the Master of Ceremonies for the two (2) lecture fora.
The live streaming was administered by Augustus R. Portem, Jr. of the Network Operations and Computer Services with Mr. Sherwin B. Perez and Mr. Emmanuel P. Llorin as support IT staff of the University Library.
