The university conducted a security management drill last Thursday, September 26, 2019. The Ateneo School Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management Group (SBDRRMG) in partnership with the Naga City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Naga City Police Office (NCPO), Naga City Rescue, and the Explosive Ordnance Division of the Philippine National Police took part in the emergency exercise.

Students, faculty, staff, and administrators in the Administration Building, Burns Hall, Santos Hall, and parts of Phelan and Bonoan Halls evacuated to their respective Places of Rallying Points while authorities search for the alleged “bomb.” The drill lasted for more than two hours.

During the evaluation, the organizers noted some irregularities during the conduct of the drill. Despite these, Police Staff Sergeant Ryan Delos Reyes of Philippine National Police – Explosive Ordnance Division told CCD News that the awareness of the community on the evacuation areas helped in the orderly conduct of the drill.

The exercise was conducted to train the Ateneo community on the dos and don’ts during a bomb scare.
