AdNU Holds Kuwentuhang Bayan Training at Caritas Diocese of Libmanan

The Ateneo de Naga University, in partnership with the Caritas Diocese of Libmanan, and in collaboration with the Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan(SLB), held a “Trainers Training on Kuwentuhang Bayan, Ang Boses ng Mamamayang Babad: The Diocesan Alternative Voters Education Campaign Material” last 21 March 2019 at SKK-CEFDEV Building, Center for Development and Learning, Sitio Cambaloro, Bahay, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. Fifty-one participants- seminarians, nuns, and barangay representatives attended the event.

This Kwentuhang Bayan activity aims to reconnect constituents with the local candidates through the stories and issues of their communities and intends to guide the voters in the process of discernment upon choosing from the local and national candidates. The one-day event consisted of three (3) activities: Conscientization, Engaged Citizenship, and Empowerment. In conscientization, through guided contemplation and national situationer, the participants were able to express their challenges and wishes, and were able to understand the national issues. They were also able to recognize ones inherent power.

On engaged citizenship, the participants were able to look into their community’s situation through visioning and problem analysis. The studied the kind of community they have and the hindrances of their community in achieving its goals.

On empowerment, the participants were able to identify the issue/s they want to address in their community and the actions that they need to take on fulfilling their community’s aspirations through action planning and electoral discernment.

The participants will continue the voter’s education in their respective areas and assignments.
