Ateneo de Naga University President Fr. Roberto Exequiel N. Rivera, S.J. welcomed officials from Hanyang University (HYU), South Korea, on 23 October 2018. The two universities explored a possible multi-level cooperation, that would contribute to Naga City or Bicol communities.

In the meeting, Dr. Jong Gul Kim, Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies of HYU, expressed his gratitude to ADNU for hosting the Social Venture Youth Exchange (SVYE) in 2017, and for providing venue to Kaina, a food service which won the SVYE social project competition and is being run at the Bonoan Cafeteria by Korean and Filipino/ADNU students. The said project provides employment to mothers in Maogma Village in Naga City.

Due to the good experience of HYU students in Naga City, the Korean university now considers investing its resources in Naga through possible joint academic and co-curricular programs with ADNU. The HYU representatives shared their institution’s vision of creating a successful model of international cooperation, which they think has potential because of the two universities’ similar social missions and academic reputation.
