The Ateneo Teacher Training Center hosted the 2018 In-Service Training (INSET) for junior and senior private high school teachers in Bicol last 21-23 May and 25-27 May respectively. The INSET was organized by the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), a trustee of the Fund for Assistance to Private Education (FAPE).

The In-Service Training was conceived for the teacher-participants to (1) identify the general goal of the K12 standards-based curriculum, (2) discuss the process of unpacking learning goals and learning targets from the standards and competencies of a curriculum unit, (3) design standards-based assessments and instructional materials, (4) explain the characteristics of learner-centered instruction, (5) facilitate in a learner-centered way students’ acquisition of unit competencies, understanding of key concepts and transfer of learning, and (6) examine classroom instruction procedures using the PEAC Evaluation Sheet for Classroom Instruction.

There were 782 participants from the junior high schools and 621 from the senior high schools.

On 25 May, a Regional Orientation Conference on the Education Service Contracting (ESC) and Teachers Salary Subsidy (TSS) and Senior High School Voucher Program (SHS VP) was held at Villa Caceres Hotel attended by school principals, registrars and other school officials.

The training was supervised by Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit, ATTC Director and the PEAC Regional Program Coordinator assisted by Ms. Cornelia O. Lurcha and Mr. Gilbert L. Pado, PEAC staff.
