Dugong Atenista Year 11 passes 5,000 mark

The Dugong Atenista program has already collected close to 5,500 blood donations from 22 drives since its launch in 2007.  The figure was reached after the addition of bloodletting activities on September 30, 2017 and February 10, 2018.

The collected donations of the program benefit the patients of Bicol Medical Center (BMC), and the members of the university community who are in need of blood transfusion. Part of this semester’s contribution from 550 donors will go to Albay, as bloodletting drives and supply in the said province have been affected by Mayon’s recent volcanic activities.

The Dugong Atenista program was organized by the Office of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the College of Nursing, and Red Cross Youth (College and Senior High School).

In June 2017, ADNU was recognized by the City Government of Naga for having the most number of donations by an organization in Naga City. It has earned similar awards from the region’s Department of Health in previous years.
