The student organizations of Ateneo de Naga University offered New Year’s prayers and shared merienda in One Big Light held on 16 January 2018 at the Xavier Hall. It was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the Directorate of Student Organizations.
Father President Fr. Roberto Exequiel Rivera, S.J. attended the occasion to address the students for the first time since assuming leadership in the university on 4 January. He shared his reflection based on the thematic scripture reading, and the first prayer petition in the paraliturgy. He also gave his New Year’s message to students.
School administrators, moderators and student leaders also expressed their prayers for their respective groups, the school and the nation as they spread the light of their candles to the other participants. The paraliturgy, which was made more special by candle-lighting, was facilitated by Fr. Angelo Silerio, SJ.
Upon the blessing of the food by University Chaplain Fr. Celerino Ignacio Reyes, S.J., the merienda immediately followed. The simple menu – pancit, puto, ice cream and chips – was prepared through the potluck food contribution of the organizations.
As a culminating activity, the organizations exchanged their gifts in Kris Kringle.
