The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) with the Senior High School conducted an anti-cyber crime advocacy seminar on 5 January 2018, at the University Gymnasium. Around 320 Grade 11 senior high school students and their teachers attended the affair. Dr. Ronaldo SP. Elicay, Senior High School Director, gave the opening remarks.

Atty. Salvador B. Reyes III, the first resource speaker, discussed the salient points of the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 and other related cyber crime laws such as the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act and the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Atty. Reyes highlighted the different forms of bullying with greater emphasis on the effects of cyber bullying.

The second speaker, PO3 Fatima P. Ibias-Lanuza, shared cyber crime prevention tips to students and provided measures on how to navigate the cyber space safely and securely. To name a few, she recommended not to share sensitive personal information on social media accounts, to use privacy settings, and avoid dangerous dating apps.

Juan Romulo Mishael Badilla, BS Psychology 4, served as the master of ceremony.

The OSA intends to sustain its anti-cyber crime advocacy as part of its continuing advancement of student rights and responsibilities. Previously, the OSA organized similar seminars, poster and video-making contests, and play on anti-cyber crime/cyber bullying.
