School Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management Group (SBDRRMG), assisted by Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), once again held a 5-day Basic First Aid and Life Support Training last 23-27 October at the Nursing Amphitheater, Santos Hall, Ateneo de Naga University. This event was attended by twenty-four faculty and staff coming from Ateneo Child Learning Center, Grade School, Junior High School Department, Senior High School Department, Ateneo Personnel and Administrative Services-Bonoan Campus. They were able to learn Basic First Aid and Life support such as proper Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (for adult and infant), bandaging, lashing, splinting and emergency techniques on transporting injured person.

This activity aimed to train the faculty and staff on how to respond during natural calamities such as flooding, earthquakes, and other disaster emergencies. The Bicol Medical Center-Health Emergency Management Staff and Naga City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office sent registered nurses and licensed first-aiders to train the participants.

In general, though the training was intensive, the newly trained first-aider had fun through simulation exercises. SBDRRMG is hoping that more faculty and staff would participate next year as the training will not only benefit the trainees but also their family and community.
