The Ateneo Teacher Training Center (ATTC) has been steadfast to the call of the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education of providing support in the full implementation of the K to 12 Basic Education Program. With this, ATTC as the first accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider for Professional Teachers in the whole Philippines, organized a National Seminar-Workshop on Teaching Computer-Aided Statistics: The What, How, and Why held last 19-21 October 2017 at the Arrupe Convention Hall and Psychology Computer Laboratory, Ateneo de Naga University, Bagumbayan Sur, Naga City.

The three-day seminar-workshop served as a general introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics theory and practice. It was ccompanied with laboratory sessions using a statistical package. Specifically, it gathered 66 mathematics teachers from the Region, Davao, Cavite and Quezon Province to (1) update the concepts on descriptive and inferential statistics, (2) familiarize with the tools and statistical package that are helpful in teaching statistics; and (3) acquire skills on the use of statistical tool/package. Invited speakers were Dr. Leonor Fortuna Cabello-Mendoza and Cresencia C. Laguerta. Dr. Mendoza is a certified assessment psychologist, certified social psychologist and a registered psychologist and registered psychometrician. She was a national awardee given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)—Special Citation as Outstanding Professional in the field of Psychology. Also, she is the first recipient of the Fr Jaime Bulatao SJ Award for Teaching conferred on her by the Psychological Association of the Philippines.On the other hand, Ms Laguerta is a sought-after-statistician in the University and in Naga City. She is a national trainer of the Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education and the Private Education Assistance to Private Education, a trustee of the Fund for Assistance to Private Education.
