Naga City – The Catholic Educational Association for Caceres and Libamanan (CEACAL) through the Ateneo Teacher Training Center (ATTC), in cooperation with the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation (PEMEA), and with the support of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC) organized the three-day National Seminar-Workshop on Classroom Assessment on 30 June to 2 July 2017 at the Arrupe Convention Hall.
With the theme, “21st Century Classroom Assessment Across Disciplines and Levels,” the seminar covered a discussion on assessing 21st century learning skills, K to 12 assessment framework, alternative and authentic assessment, outcomes-based assessment, research and innovations in classroom assessment and the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). The seminar is designed for the participants to (1) acquire advanced knowledge and understanding of classroom assessment across disciplines, (2) construct different kinds of assessment in the 21st century, (3) update on research and innovations in classroom assessment, (4) deepen their understanding on the new Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers, and (5) establish linkages with professionals in the field of measurement, assessment, and evaluation.
Experts from the Philippine Educational Measurement and Evaluation Association were invited speakers. Dr. Carlo P. Magno, 2011 Outstanding Young Scientist in the Republic of the Philippines, delivered his keynote address, and discussed the K to 12 Assessment Framework and the principles of assessment. The OBE-Assessment was explained by Dr. Jonathan Macayan, the Dean of the School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences of Mapua University.
On the second day, Marie Antoinette, a faculty of saint Paul-Quezon City trained the participants on how to come up with performance-based assessments accompanied with rubric development. Dr. Jennie V. Jocson, Senior Program Manager of the Philippine National Research Center for Teacher Quality (RCTQ), indefatigably discussed the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).
172 participants from all over the Region and from Bohol, Cavite and Quezon Province participated in the said seminar. 15 CPD points were awarded to the participants who were able to complete the three-day full sessions. Paolo Jose Silang served as the emcee.
The event was organized by Dr. Arnulfo Aaron R. Reganit with the help of Conie Lurcha, Dr. Ma. Jeanette O. Naval, Mr. Julio Alberto Bricia, and Dr. Vasil Victoria.
