The Ateneo de Naga University – Center for Local Governance in partnership with Naga City Migrant Resource Center presented “Ma-Abroad ka? Attend ka muna!” last 21 February 2017 at the CLG Training Room. It was attended by college students of Ateneo de Naga University who are planning to live or work abroad. Mr. Roderick Reforsado, Program Director of Naga City Migrants Resource Center, served as the resource speaker.
The activity aimed to: 1) inform the participants about the services of Naga City Migrant Resource Center; 2) share the different programs and activities of the Center for the OFWs and their families left behind; and 3) suggest possible creation of school-based organization of children of the OFWs and migrants. Furthermore, Mr. Reforsado also shared some tips and necessary actions on how to avoid illegal recruiters. His inputs greatly provided relevant information for everyone planning to work or live abroad. He also reiterated that his presentation was not to discourage the participants from their plans but to equip them with knowledge useful for themselves and their families.
The participants appreciated the activity making them to participate actively during the discussion. Questions were also raised afterwards which were also responded by the invited speaker accordingly. The activity was closed by Dr. Malu Barcillano, Director of the Center for Local Governance, by awarding the token and certificate as way of appreciating the time and expertise shared by Mr. Reforsado to the students.
“Ma-Abroad ka? Attend ka muna! A Presentation of the Naga City Migrants Resource Center” was part of the Alternative Class Program organized by the Ateneo de Naga University – Supreme Student Government, a semestral activity for the students of Ateneo de Naga University.
