The Ateneo de Naga University welcomed His Excellency Asif Anwar Ahmad, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Philippines on 13 February 2017.
Amb. Ahmad gave a brief talk at the Br. Richie Fernando, SJ Conference Hall, ADNU. Before an audience of students and faculty, he spoke about updates from the government of United Kingdom and its efforts in partnership with the Philippine government for social development. The ambassador also promoted the UK government’s Chevening Scholarship Program which is open to students, faculty, and staff who are interested in pursuing graduate studies to enhance further one’s field in the service of the scholar’s respective home country.
The event started with a warm welcome from the University President, Fr. Primitivo Viray Jr., SJ, followed by a presentation of publications by the University Press Director, Fr. Wilmer Tria. Reading of excerpts of Bikol and Filipino translations of various University Press publications was also done.
The event concluded with Fr Viray and Ambassador Ahmad gifting one another with their respective tokens of appreciation. Vice President for Higher Education, Dr. Alfredo Fabay, gave the closing message.
The ADNU affair of Amb. Ahmad was part of his three-day visit in Naga City.
