The Ateneo Teacher Training Center, accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider for Professional Teachers by the Professional Regulation (PRC) conducted two seminar-workshops for teachers both in the private and public schools last 20-22 and 27-29 January 2017.
The first seminar with a theme, “Creating a Culture of Achievement Through FIT Teaching” was designed for teachers to help teachers and educational leaders to prevent failures in schools by empowering teachers to adapt and adopt the most effective planning instructional and assessment practices to their particular context in order to move their students’ learning from where it is now to where it should be through Fisher and Frey’s Framework Intentional and Targeted Teaching (FIT).
110 teachers all over the Bicol Region actively participated in the 3-day training. Tita S. Natividad, a trainer of Rex’s Publishing House and of the ATTC, facilitated the said training.
On the other hand, with the support of the Private Education Assistance Committee—a seminar-workshop on Teaching Calculus in Careers which was held last 27-29 January. The seminar-workshop built the teachers’ capacity in both content and pedagogy in teaching Basic Calculus and design instructional and assessment tools that align competency with assessment and instruction.
Other than Mrs. Natividad, Cresencia C. Laguerta, Chair of the Secondary Education Department, also served as trainer. The two seminar-workshops were endorsed by the Regional Office of the Department of Education.
