ADNU Trainers Conduct HLMP 1 for DOH ROV Personnel

On 26 – 28 October 2016, four trainers from the Ateneo de Naga University namely: (1) Dr. Malu C. Barcillano, Director of the Center for Local Governance; (2) Dr. Delia B. Oco, Dean of the College of Nursing; (3) Mr. Francisco Rico U. Raquitico, College of Nursing and Graduate School faculty; and (4) Mr. Rolan Jon G. Bulao, College Of Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty were involved in the Training on Health Leadership and Management for the Poor (HLMP) Module 1 on Grounding and Visioning, a program of the Department of Health – Region V Office. The said activity was held at the ADC Hotel, Magsaysay Avenue, Naga City and participated by sixteen (16) personnel of the DOH-ROV composed of Field Officers, Program Officers, and those in the Administration Office. Two (2) Officers from the Zuellig Family Foundation were also present to monitor and ensure the proper delivery of the training.

The training is on grounding and visioning of the participants regarding the concept of a Bridging Leader. It consists of fourteen (14) sessions to help the participants understand the new concept and link it with their respective area of assignments within the department in addressing health inequity in the region: Session 1- Intro to HLGP & MLGP; Session 2- The Poor and their Health Care Predicament; Session 3- Bicol Regional Health Profile; Session 4- Bridging Leadership Framework; Session 5- Bridging Leadership: Personal Story of Transformation; Session 6- Learning From My Leadership Journey; Session 7- My Leadership Capital; Session 8 and 9- My Current and Preferred Health Reality; Session 10- Developing My Leadership Capital: Introduction to Systems Thinking; Session 11- Stakeholder Analysis; Session 12- Dialogue; Session 13- Action Planning; and Session 14- Synthesis and Integration.

At the end of this 3-day training, participants were all appreciative of the learning they gained from the sessions and inputs given by the trainers. They are more motivated for the application of the learning when they go back to their regular tasks and now looking forward for the next training on Module 2.

The mentioned trainers from the Ateneo de Naga University have all undergone and completed the Training modules on Health Leadership and Management for the Poor (HLMP) and Municipal Leadership and Governance Program (MLGP) administered and conducted by the Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) last 2015 at the Ateneo de Naga University.
