As protest against the burial of Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, the Ateneo de Naga University community held a torch rally last 31 August 2016. At 4:30PM the students, faculty, and staff assembled at the Four Pillars where Tito Valiente and Duke Dolorical, faculty members of the Social Sciences Department, provided critical insights on Martial Law and the possible consequences should the late president be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. Emmanuel Abejero, Chair of the Soc Sci Dept, and Fr Primitivo Viray Jr, University President, SJ, thanked those who were present and explained the importance of the protest. At 6PM, the Ateneo community commenced the torch rally which started at the Bagumbayan campus and ended at Centro. The event was made possible thanks to the unified efforts of the various offices and organizations in the university.
