The Alumni and International Relations Office, in cooperation with ADNU’s Management Information Systems, launched “AMDG: an Online Scholarship Fund Drive” last 31 August 2016 at the Bro Richie Fernando Hall. The event also celebrated the 97th Birth Anniversary of Fr John J Phelan SJ, as well commemorated ADNU’s famous Jesuits, namely: Fr Juan Sanz SJ, Fr Francis Dolan SJ, Fr Raul Bonoan SJ, and Fr Michael Rooney SJ.

The scholarship fund drive, which is a collaboration between the Alumni Office and the MIS, is a new campaign which aims to invite alumni and friends to help students from the periphery by contributing to the scholarship pool through online means.

Fr Primitivo Viray Jr, SJ, ADNU President, welcomed the university faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Leopoldo “Boyet” Mendoza, Director of AIR, gave a brief introduction behind the project as well as provided some vignettes about the Jesuits. A special video on the Life of Fr Phelan edited by Karl Llorin, a faculty member of the Media Studies Department, was also shown.

Two students were also invited to share their experiences as university scholars. After the sharing, a sample online donation process was conducted by Teddy Patriarca, a staff from MIS who also designed the interface. At the end of the event, several alumni were invited to the PC stations to try out the online donation.
