In its continuous mission in keeping the quality of education and capacitating the students with adequate knowledge and skills to develop the latter as effective leaders and administrators, the Center for Local Governance (CLG) recently conducted a 2-day training-workshop on Technology of Participation Level 1: Basic Group Facilitation Methods on 19-20 July 2016 at the CLG Training Room. The activity was conducted by Dr. Malu C. Barcillano and participated by seventeen (17) Master in Public Administration students.
The training aims to equip the participants with the techniques and tools on how to effectively facilitate workshops and group discussions particularly at the community level. Most participants said that they entered the training room like an empty shells yet leave the hall like a glass brimming with ideas. The participants were also ensured by Dr. Barcillano that they are capable and ready to conduct the workshops.
Moreover, strong appreciation of the participants to the said training was clearly shown in their evaluation. According to them, the learning both implied and explicitly discussed is very useful and helpful both in work and personal life. All in all, the activity was a successful one because the participants gained a lot of knowledge and skills. This training-workshop indeed paved the way to improve the competence of our soon to be Public Administrators.
The Training on Technology of Participation Level 1: Basic Group Facilitation Methods is a regular activity being conducted by the Center for Local Governance as pre-requisite to students before handling the Barangay Participatory Planning and Budgeting Workshop under PA 204 Class – Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Systems Analysis, a subject in Master in Public Administration Program of the Ateneo de Naga University Graduate School.
